Position Summary

The CyberCorps Peer Mentor will work to help students enrolled in the NSF funded CyberCorps After-school program. He/she main focus will be helping high school students understand basic cyber security theories as well as helping with lab assignments.

*Knowledgeable about Linux OS and Raspberry Pi computers. (Minimum)

*Must be a Penn College student currently enrolled in an IT bachelor’s degree program with preference given to students enrolled in the BCS program, who have completed at least 4 semesters. (minimum)



Responsibilities and Duties

-Reinforce academic material with high school student participants. (Essential)
-Assist faculty in delivery of content and with lab activities. (Essential)
-Develop installable images for Pi boxes, virtual machines, and server environments. (Essential)
-Troubleshoot problems with the security (ATHS/E229) lab and/or Pi boxes. (Essential)
-Conceptualize, build, and manage Capture the Flag and/or other penetration competitions. (Essential)
-Develop, conduct, evaluate, and summarize activity assessments. (Marginal)
-Interface with and recruit Information Assurance and Cyber Defense professionals to assist with program. (Essential)
-Attend planning meetings and weekly program sessions. (Essential)
-Provide insights into required student outcomes, curricular matters, and lab activities related to grant activities. (Essential)
