Position Summary

The student lab technician will work to sustain the ATHS/E229 lab for proper operation and uptime. This person will also provide technical help for the NSF Cyber Grant Program, including assistance with the Raspberry Pi “network in a box” system.

*Strong with cyber security basics. (Minimum)
*Able to work flexible hours to help support system uptimes. (Minimum)

*Proficient with the Windows Server environment. (Minimum)


*Must be a current Penn College student enrolled in the Information Assurance and Cyber Security (BCS) major who has completed at least 4 semesters. (Minimum)



Responsibilities and Duties

-Configure, administer, and manage server and terminal environments running Linux OS and/or Windows. (Essential)
-Maintain physical hardware associated with E229 lab, including workstations, servers, and Raspberry Pis. (Essential)
-Manage and administer hardware and software configurations for the Raspberry Pi “network in a box.” (Essential)
-Troubleshoot, update, and install hardware and software configurations for the Raspberry Pi “network in a box,” and the server environments. (Essential)
-Document procedures, resolutions, configurations and specifications of new builds or system alterations. (Essential)
-Create and upload virtual images to servers for deployment. (Essential)
-Create and install virtual images or other configurations for the Raspberry Pi. (Essential)
-Install, configure, manage, troubleshoot, update, and administer the VMWare host of services, including but not limited to: VSphere, Vcenter, ESXi, and VMWare Workstation. (Essential)
-Manage licenses and restrictions to maintain legal and ethical compliance of the lab. (Essential)
-Design, plan, and execute the installation of all network infrastructure, including workstations, servers, and facilities. (Essential)
-Proactively research and suggest updates and upgrades to the lab environments. (Essential)
