Position Summary

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership and student instruction on a part-time basis in the Physician Assistant program.

Abilities and Skills

*Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. (Minimum)
*Developed organizational skills. (Minimum)
*Knowledge and understanding of educational theory. (Minimum)
*Understanding of the role and responsibilities of Physician Assistants in clinical practice. (Minimum)
*Must possess a current Hepatitis B vaccine. (Minimum)
*Must be certified in CPR to the BLS or equivalent level. (Minimum)


Physician Assistant Track:
*Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant, Health Sciences, or related discipline, OR, equivalent combination of education and work experience that qualifies the individual to perform the functions of the position. (Minimum)
*Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program. (Minimum)
Physician Track:
*Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy. (Minimum)


Physician Assistant Track:
*Two (2) years experience as a clinically practicing Physician Assistant. (Minimum)
*Possession of a current national certification (NCCPA) as a Physician Assistant. (Minimum)
*Evidence of successful teaching experience. (Desired)
Physician Track:
*Licensed physician experienced in the delivery of primary health care services. (Minimum)
*Evidence of successful teaching experience. (Desired)

Responsibilities and Duties

-Provide didactic and clinical instruction in physician assistant courses. (Essential)
-Assume limited responsibility for laboratory coordination and maintenance. (Essential)
-Attend school meetings as requested. (Essential)
-Complete official student rosters and return to school office as requested. (Essential)
-Maintain accurate written records of student performance. (Essential)

Pay Rate / Salary

The part-time rate for 2017/18 will be the greater of $1080 per credit or $720 per contact hour, prorated for student enrollment under seven.

The approved substitute pay rate is $45.00 per hour during the first week of substituting and the prorated part-time teacher rate for consecutive substitute assignments that exceed one week.

Additional Information

The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association.

Selected candidates will be added to the Adjunct Instructor list to be used on an as-needed basis.
