Position Summary

This person will provide non-credit instruction and evaluation in EMR/EMT course, using current skills and knowledge to promote student learning and active participation.

Abilities and Skills

*Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. (Minimum)
*Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, faculty, the medical community, and the public. (Minimum)
*Developed organizational skills. (Minimum)
*Current understanding of the National EMS Education. (Minimum)
*Standards for Emergency Medical Responder and Emergency Medical Technician. (Minimum)
*Competency with psychomotor skills within the Scope of Practice for Emergency Medical Responder and Emergency Medical Technician provider levels. (Minimum)
*Knowledge and understanding of educational theory. (Desired)

Education

*Pennsylvania Department of Health certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), or Paramedic. (Minimum)
*Pennsylvania Department of Health certification as an EMT Instructor. (Minimum)
*American Heart Association credentials in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). (Desired)
*American Heart Association credentials in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Cardiac Life Support – PALS. (Desired)
*Trauma credentials in International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS). (Desired)
*Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related discipline. (Desired)

Experience

*Three (3) years of emergency medical services experience. (Minimum)
*Successful teaching experience. (Desired)
*Experience with distance education and alternative teaching methodologies. (Desired)

Responsibilities and Duties

-Facilitate participant’s utilization and integration of online learning resources within face-to-face instruction. (Essential)
-Provide laboratory instruction and coverage in the EMR/EMT Program. (Essential)
-Evaluate student performance in EMR/EMT courses. (Essential)
-Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities. (Marginal)
-In conjunction with program staff, assess equipment, instrument and supply needs of the program, obtain specifications and make recommendations for procurement as requested by the Program Director. (Marginal)

*Work locations currently available in Lycoming, Sullivan, Tioga, Clinton and Union counties with the potential of additional locations to be added in neighboring communities.
*Finalists for this position must present a sample lesson.

*State Police, Child Line, and FBI fingerprint clearances under the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) required before employment can begin.
