Position Summary

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership and student instruction on a part-time basis in Fitness and Lifetime Sports courses.

Education

*Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or closely related discipline, e.g., Kinesiology, Fitness, etc. (Minimum)
*Master’s Degree in Physical Education or closely related discipline. (Desired)
*Certified First Aid & CPR Instructor. (Desired)

Experience

*Previous teaching experience preferably at the postsecondary level. (Minimum)
*Proficiency with microcomputers and word processing software. (Minimum)
*Previous First Aid & CPR teaching experience. (Desired)

Responsibilities and Duties

-Instruct and evaluate Student performance in Fitness and Lifetime sports area courses with emphasis on individual sports or physical Fitness activities. (Essential)
-Maintain accurate written records of Student performance. (Essential)
-Maintain office hours according to contractual agreement. (Essential)
-Attend Department meetings as requested. (Marginal)
-Assist with curriculum review, revision, and development. (Marginal)
-participate in outcomes assessment and program review. (Marginal)

Physical Standards

*Requires ability to move large and sometimes heavy/bulky pieces of equipment.
*Some lifting not to exceed 50 lbs.
*Must have good mobility for demonstrating various fitness and sports activities.
*Long periods of standing are required.

Special Job Features

*Finalists must present a sample lesson. *Candidates for teaching positions must be fluent in the English language (oral and written) – English Fluency in Higher Education Act. (Pennsylvania Senate Bill 539/Act No. 76)

*Schedules are varied to meet the needs of the program; must be available to teach during normal College hours.
*Some evening and weekend scheduling may take place.

Pay Rate / Salary

The part-time rate for 2017/18 will be the greater of $1080 per credit or $720 per contact hour, prorated for student enrollment under seven.

The approved substitute pay rate is $45.00 per hour during the first week of substituting and the prorated part-time teacher rate for consecutive substitute assignments that exceed one week.
